FT74X gives more power and versatility to HTST/UHT operation

FT74X - HTST/UHT system

Two stage cooling has been added to the plate and tubular heat exchangers available on Armfield's miniature-scale FT74X UHT/HTST system enabling product outlet temperatures of less than 50C to be reached in conjunction with the Armfield FT63 laboratory chiller, particularly useful where cold product storage is required.

This and other improvements have made the FT74X an even more useful tool for developing formulations quickly and economically.

Static mixer elements for the tubular exchanger (FT74-20) improve heat transfer in both heating and cooling tubes reducing problems of burn-on with difficult products and allowing lower outlet temperatures to be achieved.

Both the plate and tubular heat exchangers enable monitoring of product pre-heat temperature.
The plate heat exchanger may be fitted with an homogeniser plate either upstream or downstream of the heating section enabling product to be directed to a homogeniser and returned during the heat treatment process.

The plate heat exchanger may also be fitted with additional plates in the heating section in order to deal with more demanding products.
A variable holding tube enables the user to configure a wide range of holding times to suit product processing parameters.

A magnetic flow meter enables very accurate measurement of product flow rate.
Feed pump is capable of variable speed operation in both high and low flow modes catering for CIP operations and pasteurisation at high flow as well as normal processing flow rates.

SITCO offers try before you buy

FT80 - Spray Dryer
Following the appointment of Scientific Instrument and Technology Corporation (SITCO) as exclusive distributors of the Armfield FT80 spray dryer/spray congealer to the pharmaceutical industry in the USA, the company has set up a 'try before you buy' spray drying facility by installing an FT80 spray dryer/spray congealer at their Englishtown, New Jersey, facility.

Companies can use the facility to check that it will process their product before purchase.

The FT80 allows developers to process between two and seven liters of liquid feed an hour and produce up to three liters of powder per hour depending on product. The finished powder is comparable to that produced on an industrial scale. The FT80 can be quickly configured as a spray congealer to process lipid products.

It offers either co-current or counter-current operation and the user can control process parameters such as residence time and relative humidity. An optional fluid bed cooler allows better final cooling of powders containing lipids. Real time data logging is also available.
