MIT TAKE HT10X TO THE INTRANET
Armfield have delivered a special version of the HT10X Heat Transfer Teaching Equipment to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

HT10X Heat Transfer Teaching Equipment
MIT Professor of Chemical Engineering, Dr Clark Colton is developing a number of experiments using Armfield laboratory equipment over the MIT intranet so students are not restricted to times when the laboratory is available. This is part of a major project sponsored by Microsoft. Two years ago Armfield supplied MIT with the HT30X Heat Exchanger Teaching Equipment on which the remote system was developed and shown to work successfully.

MIT now plan to adapt the program for the HT10X which has a range of accessories allowing students to explore different aspects of heat transfer.

Students book a slot to use the equipment in a particular configuration and can then conduct experiments and demonstrations over the intranet.

Armfield have modified the equipment to ensure it always operates safely with a fail-safe shut down procedure built in and have added facilities to allow the computer to control operations which are usually performed manually.

ARMFIELD @ THE EXPOS

We will be at the following expositions with examples of our latest equipment (and our well established products).

ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) R&D Expo, Washington DC, November 17-19. www.asme.org

AICHE (American Institute of Chemical Engineers) San Francisco, CA. November 17-19. www.aiche.org

Do you have a story to tell about your laboratory or work?

Tell it in Factfile, distributed twice a year (Spring & Fall) to nearly 15,000 US academics. We like to have up to 500 words and a picture.
