Hydraulic Research Equipment
The, long association of the company
with applied water hydraulics and fluid
mechanics has led to the design and installation
of a number of research facilities, according
to customers' requirements.
In recent years, the following types
of equipment have been supplied:
- Large open-channel flow systems for
studies in sediment transport, water
waves,
and hydraulic structures.
- Wave flumes, both for random or regular
waves, together with beaches and instrumentation.
- Coastal engineering model basins,
for the study of naturally occurring
situations as well as harbour and sea
defence models.
- Computerised towing carriage systems.
|
|

Random
Wavemaker- S6-45
Random Wavemaker S6-45 for S6MkII Flume
Supplied with an advanced software package
designed to simulate
long crested sea conditions. It can generate
Regular, Irregular and
Solitary waves.
|
|
Sediment Transport Demonstration Channel
- S8 MK11
The ability to vary both the slope and
waterflow rate enable the flume to generate
a full array of alluvial bed forms. The
development, stability and transition
of the regimes may be followed visually
and by measurements.
|
|
Rainfall Hydrographs - S10
A compact unit allowing the study of
a variety of rainfall run off situations.
A range of accessories enables the effects
on the flood hydrograph of surface reservoir
retention, depression storage effects
and land drainage to be demonstrated.
|
|
Ground Water Flow Unit - S11
A bench-standing sand tank capable of
demonstrating hydrological principles
of ground water flow and the applications
of these to certain water resource engineering
constructions.
Demonstrations of flood risks associated
with land drainage works, the use of wells
for both water abstraction and de-watering
and the drainage of lakes and polders
are all readily performed. The unit allows
simple three-dimensional flow situations
to be set up quickly and measurements
of piezometric levels taken at appropriate
positions within the model.
|
|
Advanced Hydrology Study System - S12
Mkll
A completely redesigned teaching and
research tool. It tilts and has improved
rainfall simulation. It introduces a whole
new area of river feature formation and
sediment transport (fluvial geopmorphology).
|
|
Hydraulic
Flow Demonstrator - S16
• Demonstrate flow through both open channels and close conduits using this highly visual accessory to the F1-10 Hydraulics Bench
• Unique elevating bed section and models of various hydraulic structures allow the difficult concepts of critical flow and energy changes to be clearly demonstrated and analysed
• Working section large enough for the various flow phenomena to be seen clearly by a group of students - enables a teacher to provide practical demonstrations at the same time as explaining the theory
• Demonstrations can be set up quickly and easily, including varying the upstream and downstream flow conditions
• Ideal for student project work - user constructed models of different hydraulic structures can be evaluated

H12-8
A versatile, hand held, battery operated
portable pressure meter capable of measuring
pressures of water or air from 0 - 2000mBar
(0 - 1500mmHg).
This unit is particularly suitable for
use in applications where Mercury manometers
have traditionally been used.
(The use of Mercury is not desirable
in a laboratory environment due to its
hazardous nature.)
