Custom design flumes

We are supplying two custom-designed and built flumes to universities in the United Kingdom.
One is a flume of 10 metres working section of one metre square section for the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia (below).
University of East Anglia Flume

It will be used for fluid mechanics research including the use of sediment and brine and for the study of chemical interactions in fluid-sediment systems. It is a tilting flume with a closed loop re-circulating system with provision for open discharge.
Loughborough Flume
The other for the Geography Department at Loughborough University (right) is a five metre working length flume with a 600mm x 500mm working section. It is a tilting flume designed for sediment re-circulation or open discharge.

Both flumes have toughened glass sides for safety, observation and to allow use of PIV equipment.

We have a great deal of experience in designing and building large flumes such as the 16m x 6m x 1.6m Total Environment Simulator for the Geography Department at the University of Hull last year.

Many of our S6Mkll standard flumes are installed in education and research institutes around the world.
