New Trials Facility

New trials facility allows "try before you buy"

Armfield Inc. our US subsidiary, has opened a new trials laboratory facility at its Jackson NJ head office.
The facility enables potential purchasers of Armfield miniature-scale processing technology to try before they buy.
They can either visit the laboratory itself or send in product to be processed with instructions as to how it is to be treated. Armfield's experienced personnel will process it and return it with a full report on the procedure.

The trials laboratory is equipped with the best selling Armfield FT74X HTST/UHT (High Temperature Short Time/Ultra High Temperature) unit. This can be configured either as a plate or tubular heat exchanger.

Batch sizes from as little as a quart can be readily processed, with throughputs up to 10 US gallons per hour. Temperatures up to 150 deg C, and pressures up to 15 barg can be achieved.

The touch screen membrane control panel allows process variables such as flow rate, product temperature and pressure to be set with real time data logging for recording and repeating the process.

Hydrogen Bubble
F14Mkll Hydrogen Bubble Flow Visualisation System

The MKII version of the F14 now includes a smaller electronic control console incorporating improved digital controls. A low voltage LED lighting module gives improved illumination of the bubbles for clearer demonstrations. Changes in the design of the bubble generator allow the system to be operated without the need for conditioning of the water using salts. It has an optional high resolution firewire webcam system which can be linked to projectors or displays for larger scale presentations.

Safer solvent options
We now recommend the following solvents for use with the UOP5: Leksol (organic phase), water (aqeous phase) and propionic acid (partitioning solute). Leksol is a non-flammable organic solvent based on n-propyl bromide which is an approved alternative to other solvents such as Trichlorethylene which may also be used. However Trichlorethylene has a detrimental effect on the environment and requires careful handling due to health hazard implications. (Efficient ventilation and air extraction are still required as Leksol should not be inhaled).
