The new CM14 is a complete
aeronautical axial flow gas turbine engine,
and a great tool for those teaching and studying
in areas such as engine systems and thermodynamics.
The engine itself is a small
compact Olympus HP E-start turbine engine,
comprising a single stage radial compressor,
annular combustion chamber, and a low mass,
high performance axial flow turbine. Full
instrumentation is included as standard,
allowing the measurment of a wide range of
variables such as temperature, pressure,
air and fuel flow, shaft speed and thrust.
The CM14 connects to a PC via a single USB interface,
allowing for easy installation into a test cell or soundproof enclosure.
The included software runs on the user's PC, and
features powerful educational tools together with
sophisticated graph plotting and data logging capability.

A freestanding accessory to the F1-10 Hydraulic Bench that allows hydraulic phenomena, associated with the flow of water through both open channels and closed conduits, to be set up quickly, easily and visually demonstrated.
Measurements taken in each configuration allow the associated flow conditions to be analysed.
An elevating section of the bed inside the channel and models of various hydraulic structures allow the difficult concepts of critical flow/velocity/depth and energy changes to be clearly demonstrated and analysed.
Models supplied include the Undershot weir, Overshot weir, Narrow crested weir, Broad crested weir, Ogee weir and Culvert. In all cases the effects of changes in upstream and downstream water level can be investigated.

UOP15 demonstrates the adsorption of a solute, carbon dioxide,
from a binary gas mixture onto the surface of a solid adsorbent, activated
carbon. The process takes place in a fixed bed adsorption column. The adsorption
and desorption/regeneration processes are monitored using temperature sensors
sited at intervals along the column and also by carbon dioxide measurement
of the exit gas using an infra red (IR) detector.

The
new FM range starts here
Our Capture range
of rotodynamic machines is being
completely revamped, with
the FM40 Fan Demonstration
Units, FM50 Series Pump Demonstration
Units and FM60 Turbine Demonstration
Units now on the market.
Each unit has been
designed with special features
to give maximum educational benefit.
Bodies and covers are manufactured
from transparent acrylic to allow
students to view the internal mechanisms
and easily visualise flow paths.
The centrifugal pump rigs are also
supplied with alternative impellers
which can be changed over by students,
allowing investigation into the
effects on pump performance.

IFD7 Interface Unit
The new range is interfaced
to the PC via a new IFD7 Interface
Console. This provides signal
conditioning for all of the sensors
used, and is connected to the
equipment using a single multi-way
cable (doing away with individual
sensor electronics and telephone
cables). The interface also incorporates
a three-phase inverter drive
which accurately controls the
speed of the motors and relays
a torque reading to the computer
(this replaces the SWA1 Integrating
Wattmeter making a significant
cost saving). Pump start/stop
and speed control are via software
for improved ease of use.

The Armfield
C15 is a new computer controlled
subsonic
benchtop wind tunnel designed for
undergraduate teaching

learn more about the C15
It has a 150mm (six
inch) transparent working section
and comes with a wide range of models
and options for aerodynamic and
air flow studies. Options include
an inclined manometer bank or an
electronic manometer bank.
A special feature
is the electronic lift and drag
balance, where sensors are used
to measure the forces. The model
being tested can be rotated and
the angle of rotation measured electronically.
Readings are displayed on the control
software screen and can be logged.
Models
include a lift and drag aerofoil,
pressure wing, drag models of various
shapes, a pressure cylinder, Bernoulli
apparatus, boundary layer plate
and a project kit which allows users
to make their own models.

The FT83 offers economical miniature-scale aseptic
processing and packaging
The new Armfield FT83 Sterile
Filling System is an economical
and simple way of preparing sterile package
samples with an excellent shelf life.
When combined with an Armfield UHT unit
such as the FT74X or FT94X it can form
part of a complete miniature-scale aseptic
production line.
The unit comprises a laminar flow cabinet
offering a filling environment to US Federal
Standard 209E Class 100 which meets microbiological
safety and pharmaceutical production/filling
requirements.
The unit offers a controlled clean environment
and allows all the product paths to be
sterilised for the filling to be controlled
in a simple way.

Armfield announce the new FT94X HTST/UHT Mini Pilot systemwhich extends the
range of continuous operation scaled-down units offered by Armfield to
200
L/h (30-100 L/h standard format).
The unit combines full flexibility – plate and tubular heat exchanger
options - with comprehensive instrumentation demanded of research and
development
equipment.
The FT94 is designed for operation as both a stand-alone unit
and also for seamless integration into a full processing system with the
capability of aseptic packaging of processed product.
The FT94 is powered by steam; product
is pre-heated by a steam-heated water
circuit to prevent heat shock. Product
main heating is by steam through the
heat exchanger surface. Both product
pre-heat and heating temperatures are
automatically controlled and set points
are defined by the user. The FT94 incorporates
full CIP and SIP functions.

for use with Armfield miniature scale food processing equipment.
The FT90
is based on an APV 1000 homogeniser and the FT91 is based on a Niro Twin
Panda. Both homogenisers have been specifically optimised for this application.
The
units include controls, comprehensive instrumentation, valves, pipework,
pulsation dampers, datalogging and all facilities required for operation
and process integration with other Armfield equipment.
Also used on the Armfield miniature
scale aseptic processing line.
